Position Title: Cooking Instructor

The Provo City Recreation Department is looking for a cooking instructor to teach community cooking programs. This position will oversee cooking classes at the recreation center.
Job DetailsWhat is the compensation?
Pay Rate: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour, depending upon experience and certifications. Payment will be by direct deposit.

- Create cooking curriculum.
- Provide engaging, energetic classes.
- Promote the recreation program.
- Set up and take down materials needed to instruct students.
- Track attendance and instruct students of varying skill levels.
- Evaluate program success for future modification.
- Create a positive, upbeat environment for community members.
- Sufficient knowledge of cooking instruction relating to kids and adults.
- Physical ability required to perform the duties of the job.
- Preference will be given to applicants with previous teaching experience.
- Preference will be given to applicants who can teach several art mediums to participants.

Approximately 5-15 hours per week, afternoon, and evening hours. Schedule is flexible, based on department need, and is subject to change.
What are the physical and environmental factors?This work requires physical strength and agility to perform the work, including 2 to 4 hours of cooking instruction per week and other varied physical activities associated with performing the essential duties. May require working with and handling food and food‑related equipment.
What is the selection process?Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted, with the first screening being held on January 7, 2025. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.
If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
