Action Target is seeking a highly versatile Electrical Engineer (5+ years’ preferred experience) with a broad and practical skillset to join us in the design, integration, and sustainment of automated target systems used in commercial, military, and law enforcement facilities. This role requires a hands‑on engineer who is equally comfortable performing board-level design and lab work, as well as conducting complex field analyses of interconnected systems.
Applicants should be able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, embrace challenges, and consistently deliver results. Effective communication and excellent documentation skills are essential. The ideal candidate takes ownership of projects, provides leadership when needed, and drives efforts to successful completion.
- Perform system integration, functional testing, and verification testing of hardware, sensors, and control systems
- Design, analyze and review hardware, firmware, and system level components
- Develop firmware and supporting software tools for testing validation and automation
- Troubleshoot and diagnose networks, sensors, controllers, PCB assemblies, and power distribution systems
- Work cross-functionally with production, assembly, and project management to ensure successful product release and deployment
- Interpret and apply NEC and UL508A requirements in electrical panel and system designs
- Complete required documentation on assigned projects for company success
- Support domestic and international system installations (some travel required)
- Provide clear technical direction, mentor team members when needed, and take ownership of assigned tasks and projects
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or similar field (or equivalent practical experience)
- Minimum of 5+ years of relevant engineering experience
- Strong understanding of electrical safety codes and compliance (NEC, UL, UL508A preferred)
- Experience with schematic capture, PCB layout, and CAD tools (Altium preferred)
- Experience with system level integration of hardware, sensors, controllers, and networks
- Embedded systems programming experience (C/C++, microcontrollers, firmware debugging)
- Familiarity with Linux environments and networking fundamentals (Debian, Ethernet, Wi‑Fi, Mod Bus, Bacnet protocols)
- Ability to work with lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, etc.)
- Experience with or willingness to learn AutoCAD, Solid Works, or Creo
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and collaboratively
- Familiarity with HVAC or Building automation control is a plus
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, as needed.
