Job DescriptionThis is a position for an experienced Maintenance Painter in the Facilities Management department. The role focuses on painting and may be assigned to work in a variety of areas. A Maintenance Painter II is expected to assist in other facilities‑related work as needed.
Essential Functions- Maintain the appearance and condition of the hospital's interior and exterior surfaces.
- Paint walls, ceilings, doors, and other surfaces as assigned.
- Prepare surfaces for painting, including sanding, scraping, and cleaning, and mix and apply paint according to specifications.
- Implement and adhere to all infection prevention and life safety concerns associated with the work.
- Maintain all painting tools and equipment in good operating order.
- Demonstrate competence to perform work on routine to moderately complex systems.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Painting and paint coatings
- Cleaning equipment, drywalling, and painting techniques
- Following instructions, sanding, confined spaces, woodworking
- Preventive and corrective maintenance
- Documentation, time management, prioritization
- Ability to follow directions and work independently; direct work of others
- Demonstrated ability to repair and paint all types of paintable surfaces in a healthcare environment.
- Familiarity with wall protection systems, wallpaper, and other protective assemblies.
- Mastery of epoxy and other multi‑part coating systems.
- Willingness to work hard and to learn.
- Valid driver’s license may be required.
- Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment by following established safety procedures and protocols.
- Ability to comply with all infection prevention and life safety considerations associated with maintenance painting in a healthcare setting.
- Work quickly and efficiently within the demands of a healthcare setting.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow instructions.
- Read and interpret information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Communicate with customers, understand spoken information quickly and accurately.
- Manual dexterity to manipulate complex equipment.
- Lift, pull, and push equipment; work on hands and knees, bend, and carry supplies including heavy items.
- For driving roles, operate vehicle safely.
- Perform bending, lifting, stooping, crawling, sitting, walking, climbing.
- Use hand and power tools, hearing and eye protection.
- Exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, constrained spaces, odors.
Utah Valley Hospital, Provo, Utah
Pay and HoursPay range: $23.00/hr – $35.00/hr (actual rate based on experience)
Scheduled weekly hours: 40 hours per week.
