Regulation Team | Spark Academy role at The Heritage Community
Spark Academy is a co‑ed, residential treatment program for adolescents specializing in neurodiversity. The students in Spark Academy struggle with challenges from high‑functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder and other similar diagnoses.
Spark Academy is seeking dynamic and passionate life coaches to join our team! As a life coach at Spark Academy, you'll have the opportunity to work with a diverse group of teenagers, helping them discover their passions and reach their full potential. You'll work with them one‑on‑one, in small groups, and participate side‑by‑side in activities to help them develop life skills, set and achieve goals, and build confidence and resilience.
Spark Academy is part of the parent company, The Heritage Community, located in Provo, UT.
Schedule- Monday, Wednesday, Friday 2:30 pm – 10:00 pm
- Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday 2:30 pm – 10:00 pm
- Sunday rotation: one Sunday every four weeks 8:00 am – 10:00 pm
- Overflow:
Start on background check/training and get ready for openings; still receive 2‑3 shifts a week, schedule flexible.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully coach and mentor adolescents.
- Assertiveness to learn and continually enhance knowledge of neurodiversity and mental health.
- Good energy and ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Engaging and empathetic character, with balance of tenacity and determination.
- Good problem‑solving, decisiveness, and teamwork skills.
- Proficient in communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
- Physical fitness and stamina to respond to physically demanding situations.
- Develop close, personal, emotionally supportive relationships with students to coach them in treatment progression.
- Implement clinical treatment plans as outlined by the Treatment Team.
- Ensure a healthy, comfortable, safe, and caregiving environment.
- Participate in activities with students (sports, bike riding, skiing, rock climbing, hiking, swimming, etc.) encouraging skill development.
- Use mediation and intervention techniques to redirect students during escalated moments.
- Respond promptly to crisis situations and disturbances calmly and controlled.
- Assess situations to determine appropriate de‑escalation techniques and intervention strategies.
- Communicate effectively with individuals in crisis, using active listening and empathy to build rapport.
- Transport students to and from off‑campus appointments and activities using company vehicles.
- Must be at least 20 years of age or older to apply.
- Physical ability to provide interventions such as safety holds.
- A valid driver’s license; no more than one traffic violation in the past three years to be approved for transporting students.
- Proficiency and fluency in speaking, understanding, reading, and writing English.
