Senior Software Engineer (Full-Time, Remote or Provo, UT)

As a Senior Software Engineer at Aptive Environmental, you will join a cross-functional engineering team dedicated to delivering scalable systems across our sales, operations, and field platforms. Our teams take ownership of their builds and prioritize continuous system improvement. This is a full-time position available remotely within the United States or at our office in Provo, Utah (Zip Code: 84604).

Compensation: $140,000–$150,000 annually

• Design, build, and maintain robust backend and frontend systems, ensuring strong testing and observability.
• Collaborate effectively with UX, product managers, and engineers across various domains to define and deliver comprehensive solutions.
• Review and improve code quality, maintainability, and design across the team.
• Balance implementation complexity, time to market, scalability, and resiliency in all technical decisions.
• Mentor teammates and actively contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
• Own features end-to-end: encompassing design, implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring.

• Features and subsystems you lead are stable, reliable, and easy to evolve.
• You help your team navigate ambiguity and converge on the best technical tradeoffs.
• Peers trust your code reviews, mentorship, and design judgment.
• Systems you interact with demonstrate improvement in clarity, performance, and maintainability.

• Senior proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., JavaScript/Type Script, Python, Go, Java, PHP, C#, etc.).
• PHP and React experience preferred

• At least 5 years of backend and/or frontend development experience delivering production systems preferred.
• Strong database and SQL skills, including experience designing and optimizing schemas.
• Experience owning features or subsystems from initial design through final release.
• Familiarity with AI-powered developer tools (Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor, etc.) preferred.
• A public Git Hub/Git Lab/Bitbucket profile is a plus.
