Early Years Assistant – Prudhoe
Location: Prudhoe, Northumberland
Contract: Full-time or part-time (term time only)
Start Date: September 2026
Salary: £540 – 580 per week
Do you have a passion for early years? Are you wanting to take significant steps in your career building experience in EYFS? We’re looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Early Years Assistant to join a welcoming First School, helping pupils develop essential early literacy and numeracy skills.
About the RoleAs an Early Years Assistant you’ll play a vital role in supporting children, who need extra help to develop their phonics knowledge and reading fluency and physical literacy.
You will:
- Deliver targeted catch up sessions.
- Support groups of children in continuous provision, observing them accessing each activity.
- Keep accurate records of assessments and relay this to the class teacher.
- Create a positive, nurturing environment where every child feels motivated to succeed.
The ideal candidate will have:
- An understanding the Early Years Foundation Stage.
- Experience working with EYFS pupils in small groups or one-to-one.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive, patient, and supportive approach to learning.
- An enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
An Early Years Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience is desirable but not crucial.
