This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and committed teacher to develop their expertise in SEND leadership within Pudsey Grammar School. The post holder will work closely with the Assistant Headteacher for SEND and Inclusion and will have meaningful responsibility for the development and management of SEND provision, curriculum and case management.

The role is particularly suited to a teacher who has aspirations to become aSENCO in the coming years and wishes to develop the leadership, organisational,curriculum and statutory knowledge required for this progression. The school is committed to developing talented staff and opportunities for advancement and promotion do exist, dependent upon staff movements, school structures and the capabilities of the individual postholder. The successful candidate will be supported to develop their SEND leadership expertise and will have opportunities to gain experience across thekey areas of SENCO responsibility.

The school encourages training both in-house and externally tomeet the needs of the individual and the Service. The post holder will be encouraged to undertake relevant professional development in SEND, inclusive practice, EHCPs, case management,curriculum development, intervention, safeguarding and SEND leadership. Particular opportunities will be identified to support the successful candidate in developing towards future SENCO responsibilities,including gaining experience in strategic SEND leadership, statutory processes,multi-agency working, staff development and evaluation of SEND provision.

• Supporting the Assistant Headteacher in maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of students with special educational needs.
• Coordinating the scheduling of interventions, meetings, and assessments, ensuring efficient use of resources and staff availability.
• Monitoring and tracking student progress, documenting outcomes and adjustments as necessary.
• Maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity when handling student information and records
• Liaising with External Agencies
• Working with families and the community.
• Providing support to the wider Student Support Team
• Ensuring all five components of the original 'Every Child Matters' entitlement are metfor each subject

• Excellent attention to detail,effective analytical skills and strong inter-personal and communication skills,together with the ability to work as part of a successful team.
• Appropriate qualifications and/or relevant experience in working with young people in this role.
• A commitment to:
  • Working in line with statutory safeguarding guidance (e.g. Keeping Children Safe in Education, prevent and our safeguarding and child protection policies)
  • Taking responsibility for receiving and acting uponany reported concerns and ensuring that the Child Protection Policy is implemented and promote best safeguarding practice across the school as part ofthe Student Support Team.
