Preschool Teacher

Overview

Preschool Teacher at Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc. (CPLC). The role supports Early Childhood Development (ECD) programs by providing developmentally appropriate care and education for children aged 3-5 in a center-based classroom in the CPLC ECD Colorado Program. The teacher works with a center-based inter-disciplinary team to support child development and provides education, health, and social service support to families. The position complies with applicable state and federal regulations including Head Start standards and related state guidance.

• Promote school readiness by preparing children and families for school and life success.
• Provide high-quality, developmentally appropriate care and education for preschool-aged children (3-5) in a center-based setting.
• Supervise children at all times by sight and sound and maintain health and safety regulations to create an optimal learning environment.
• Facilitate health practices to keep children safe in indoor, outdoor, and transportation environments (e.g., school bus).
• Adhere to Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS), Head Start Act, and applicable ECD procedures.

• Education / Background:
  • An Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education (ECE) or coursework equivalent to a major relating to Early Childhood Education
• Experience:
  • Six-month experience in teaching preschool-aged children
• Note:
  
  Education obtained outside the United States must be evaluated for equivalency.
• Other requirements:
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred
  • Experience with ASQ screening, PITC, CSEFEL, Pyramid Model, ITERS, CLASS is preferred
  • Experience working with culturally diverse and low-income families preferred
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Adobe, web-based systems)
