Job Description

PROJECT ENGINEER role is expected to participate in all aspects of the asset creation process, from front‑end loading (FEL) through commissioning, start‑up, project closure, and lessons learned.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive project progress while maintaining close communication with Business Managers, Engineering support teams, IT, EH&S, Accounting, Sourcing, Logistics, Quality, Operations and Maintenance. Assure team communications among a wide variety of internal and external technical disciplines.
  • Participate in project meetings and reviews (formal and informal), scope development, hazard reviews, design reviews, planning, commissioning, etc.
  • Contribute to asset creation process by developing the required documentation including project scopes, definition drawings (P&IDs, general arrangements, electrical single lines, etc.), hazard review reports, permit requests, critical path schedules/resource plans, detailed cost estimates, cost control/forecasting, device tracking lists, funding requests (AFE), device specifications, engineering/construction contracts, purchase requisitions, purchase orders, invoices, commissioning plans, and lessons learned reports.
  • Own cross‑functional projects and key project objectives as assigned by Project Engineering Management, including process safety improvements, avoidance of EH&S incidents, regulatory/permit compliance, capital spending cost control/budget, critical path schedule compliance/resource management, and operability/hassle‑free commissioning.
  • Participate in site capital processes and budget, including KPI tracking, capital spending and forecasting, regular reporting/communication of project status and updates, and driving all site projects to completion.
  • Support contract partner relationships for each project.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • BS degree in Chemical (preferred) or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in the chemical process, semiconductor, food, or pharmaceutical industry plus background in plant or process engineering, process safety management, separation processes and project management.
  • Strong skillset in understanding and creating P&IDs and isometrics. Interpret design curves of field machinery and function test/validate field equipment.
  • Experience developing process parameters including mass flow, heat transfer, material balance capacities and rates.
  • Experience interfacing with mechanical, structural, controls and electrical engineers.
  • Knowledge of PSM processes, change management, pre‑startup safety reviews and process hazard analysis.
  • General understanding of API, ANSI and NFPA.
  • Ability to persuade others to change existing practices.
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proven ability to identify, assess and solve problems.
  • Excellent analytical and math skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Pay Range

Estimated $100,000 – $115,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience.
