CDOC Psychologist I - Pueblo

Job OverviewProvide professional psychologist services to the inmate population. Duties include psychological assessment and evaluation of mental health needs, individual and group therapy, clinical and behavioral management of inmates with mental illness, crisis intervention, and clinical consultation and guidance to inmates and staff. Maintain comprehensive inmate mental health records, ensure compliance with all applicable professional and organizational standards, and support the Sex Offender Treatment and Monitoring Program (SOTMP) as needed.
EligibilityThis position is open to Colorado state residents only. Applicants must be at least 21 years old, possess a valid Colorado driver’s license, have no felony convictions, and be legally eligible to work in the United States.
Responsibilities- Conduct psychological assessments and evaluations of inmates.
- Provide individual and group therapy sessions.
- Manage behavioral needs of inmates with mental illness.
- Offer clinical consultation and guidance to inmates and correctional staff.
- Maintain comprehensive mental health documentation and records.
- Provide crisis intervention as required.
- Communicate regularly with inmates, clinical staff, and supervisors to ensure program continuity.
- Ensure compliance with professional, departmental, and unit standards.
- Doctorate degree in Psychology from an accredited institution.
- Valid psychologist license issued by the State of Colorado, Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA).
- At least one (1) year of experience as a licensed psychologist or permitted psychologist candidate.
- Experience practicing as a psychologist in a correctional environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong problem‑solving and critical thinking abilities.
- Ability to maintain required licensure and credentials.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across programs and disciplines.
- Proficiency in reading and comprehending English.
- Ability to produce accessible documentation following plain‑language guidelines.
- Self‑control and emotional stability in stressful, potentially violent situations.
