American Traveler is hiring a Level III Trauma ER RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring a CO or compact RN license and at least 2 years of ER experience.
Details- Acute care setting in a Level III Trauma Emergency Department with 15 beds and 2 trauma bays
- Fast Track and separate Triage area available, with travelers expected to work Triage
- Separate Psych/seclusion rooms, with 24/7 in-house security in the ER
- Treats 40+ patients per day with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4
- Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, chest pain, fever, cough, dyspnea, headache, injury, and extremity pain
- Common drips include cardiac, antihypertensive, antiarrhythmic, and sedation/analgesia medications
- RT present 24/7 performing ABGs, breathing treatments, and EKGs, with vent, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow equipment in use
- On-site X-ray and CT available with transport support
- Labs drawn by both phlebotomy and RNs
- Charge nurse takes patient assignments
- Uses EPIC EMR
- Night shift schedule with self-scheduling and block scheduling options
- Weekend requirement of at least 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
- Holiday coverage required
- Call or standby requirements determined by nurse manager
- Floating within Zone 1 may be required in cases of extreme need
- Active CO state or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, ENPC or PALS, NRP, and TNCC
- EPIC EMR experience preferred
- Must submit a copy of driver's license for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
- Provide emergency nursing care across a wide range of acute presentations in a high-volume ER setting
- Scrub color/dress code is navy blue
- Unit-specific orientation details and location assigned during orientation week
- Clinicians should plan to be in-state for orientation week even if initial training modules are completed remotely
- Must maintain a permanent residence at least 60 miles from the facility
- Candidates may not have been directly employed by any Common Spirit-affiliated facility within the past year, though PRN employment through outside staffing firms is acceptable
