American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Oncology RN for a night shift acute care position requiring NIHSS certification and a CO or compact RN license.

• Med/Surg Oncology unit, 2nd floor, 24-bed acute care setting
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 with nurse aide support at 1:5
• Common diagnoses include CHF, hypertension, chest pain, COPD exacerbations, asthma, pneumonia, pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, GI bleeding, and acute renal failure
• RNs titrate drips including analgesics, anticoagulants, and antihypertensives
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Respiratory equipment on unit includes CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, and vents
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week guaranteed
• Self-scheduling and block scheduling available
• Weekend requirement of 6 shifts per 6-week schedule
• Holiday coverage required
• Call/standby requirements determined by nurse manager
• Floating required, with priority given to float assignments; may float within Zone 1 in cases of extreme need
• Charge nurse takes an assignment

• Active CO or Compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA) required
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• BSN not required
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility

• Provide direct patient care to med/surg oncology patients with a range of acute conditions
• Navy blue scrub color required
• Unit/department-specific orientation date and location assigned during orientation week
• Clinicians must be in-state for orientation week even if initial modules are completed remotely
• Candidates must reside at least 60 miles from the facility to be considered
• Driver's license used to verify permanent address for radius requirements
• Travelers hired into a float zone are expected to secure housing that allows them to meet floating requirements within that zone
• Candidates may not have been directly employed by any facility associated with the health system within the past year; PRN employment through outside firms is acceptable
• First-time travelers may be considered
