This is a one-year, limited duration appointment position to advance UT Southern’s digital communications evolution initiative. Works as a member of the Communications and Marketing team. Works closely with team members and internal partners to support the university’s mission and the overall Marketing objectives. Consults with and advises team members and internal partners in order to develop content strategies to optimize content on the UT Southern website and employee hub, once launched.

Overview

This is a one-year, limited duration appointment to advance UT Southern’s digital communications evolution initiative. Works as a member of the Communications and Marketing team. Works closely with team members and internal partners to support the university’s mission and the overall Marketing objectives. Consults with and advises team members and internal partners in order to develop content strategies to optimize content on the UT Southern website and employee hub, once launched.

Responsibilities
  • 70%:
    Advances UT Southern’s digital communications evolution initiative by developing content strategies to optimize content on primary digital communications platforms.
  • Serves as subject matter expert on the digital communications evolution initiative and as liaison between the Division of Communications and Marketing leadership and internal partners.
  • Serves as a consultant and advisor to team leadership and internal partners and, based on content audits, helps them develop audience-focused content strategies within the university's intranet and website environments.
  • Understands the needs of internal and external audiences and advocates for their needs in all communication planning and coordination.
  • Provides and implements website updates and edits, along with maintenance and compliance requirements.
  • 20%:
    Advocates for and facilitates use of SharePoint and Word Press among colleagues and internal partners.
  • Develops resources to support digital communications transformation, especially UT Southern-wide adoption of SharePoint.
  • Develops best practices and governance documentation to ensure a high-quality, consistent user experience.
  • Coordinates with campus partners to facilitate user onboarding, training, and planning to optimize use and adoption of SharePoint.
  • 10%:
    Understands the goals and objectives of the digital communications evolution initiative and helps campus leadership plan for meeting those goals and objectives.
  • Tracks progress of the initiative, measuring against established goals and objectives, and provides updates and reports to OCM leadership.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of digital communication platforms, methods, and best practices.
  • Ability to facilitate solutions across multiple stakeholder groups and lead individuals who are not direct reports. Ability to support and advance the growth of a dynamic digital platform.
  • Demonstrated ability to audit and organize large amounts of digital content. Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage digital content within a web CMS.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to develop creative solutions. Ability to distill complex concepts and ideas into practical plans.
  • Ability to adhere to the university's brand and editorial style guides.
  • Ability to work toward a plan while maintaining the willingness to adapt when necessary. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet recurring deadlines.
  • Ability to act professionally and represent the office in interactions across campus.
  • Knowledge of Word Press and SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of the complexities of managing content within a higher education environment.
  • Experience working in a higher education marketing, communications, or IT role. Experience managing content in an enterprise intranet environment.
  • Experience working in SharePoint and/or Word Press environments.
