This role focuses on setting up, changing over, and handling molds and dies in a manufacturing environment. You will use your mechanical aptitude to support plastic molding operations, ensuring equipment runs safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Set up, install, and remove molds and dies on molding and related production equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Perform tooling changeovers to support different production runs and product changes.
- Handle molds and dies carefully to prevent damage and ensure proper alignment and fit during installation.
- Assist with plastic injection molding, rubber injection molding, and plastic extrusion setups as needed.
- Inspect molds, dies, and tool components for wear, damage, or defects and report issues promptly.
- Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to minimize downtime during mold and die changes.
- Use mechanical skills and tools to adjust, secure, and troubleshoot equipment during setup and changeover.
- Follow standard operating procedures and safety guidelines while working with machinery and heavy tooling.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area around molding machines and tooling storage.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by suggesting ways to streamline mold and die changeover processes.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools and machinery.
- Experience in mold setting, die setting, or similar mechanical setup roles in manufacturing (preferred).
- Experience in mechanical work such as automotive mechanics, construction, or other hands-on technical trades.
- Ability to perform tool changeovers and handle molds and dies safely.
- Familiarity with plastic injection molding, rubber injection molding, or plastic extrusion (preferred).
- Capability to follow detailed procedures and safety protocols in a manufacturing environment.
- Willingness to learn new equipment, processes, and technologies related to molding operations.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a production setting.
