As needed, hourly with advanced scheduling and no guaranteed minimum hours.

We invite applications for the position of Standardized Patient (SP) in the School of Nursing and Health Sciences. The primary responsibility is to portray a patient or patient's family member in realistic and repeatable ways using specific medical conditions, symptoms, and emotional states according to detailed case scenarios.

• Portray patients with specific medical conditions, symptoms, and emotional states according to detailed case scenarios.
• Participate in various encounter types, including history‑taking, physical examinations and challenging conversations.

• Successful completion of /DRA
  299 Standardized Patient Practicum and/or Registered Nurse (RN) with an unencumbered or retired license (must be able to show proof).
• Ability to memorize a case script and portray the case effectively.
• Strong reading and writing skills to absorb and use detailed case training and exam procedural information.
• Legal status to work in the U.S. and pass a background check.
• Training to simulate all aspects of the case script: history of the current problem, affect, emotions, behavior, and physical findings.

• Acting and/or teaching experience.
• Training and/or experience in theatre, film, education, communication, or behavioral science.

Typically requires a high school diploma and six months of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Located in southern middle Tennessee, UT Southern is about 70 miles south of Nashville and 40 miles north of Huntsville, Alabama. The campus is nestled in the small community of Pulaski and currently enrolls about 800 students a year.
