The Respiratory Therapist coordinates “high‑quality, patient‑centered respiratory care” in accordance with state standards. Responsibilities include diagnostic testing, therapeutic procedures and monitoring of patients receiving mechanical ventilation.
What you will do in this role- Perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency and cuff pressure.
- Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate need for respiratory therapy.
- Administer therapies, such as oxygen, aerosol medication and chest physiotherapy.
- Assist with artificial airway placement and initiate mechanical ventilation.
- Monitor patient response and notify provider or intervene when needed.
- Transport ventilator‑dependent patients.
- Respond to emergent situations and ensure airway integrity during resuscitation.
- Virginia license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
- Associate’s degree or certificate from an approved RT school.
- NBRC Registry – Registered Respiratory Therapist.
- BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
- ACLS certification within 180 days.
- PALS certification within 180 days.
- NRP certification.
- 1–2 years experience.
- NBRC Directory listing.
Hours:
Full‑time, night shift (10 p.m.–6 a.m.)
