Position Details The Opportunity

As the Cougs Rise Coordinator you are responsible for effective student services and implementation of a student success initiative focused on supporting the college transition and retention of low-income and first generation students from across the state.

Working alongside the Director to provide expertise and support, major responsibilities include implementing systems and methods for student programs and services (including an academic year and summer residential program); advising and counseling of students; preparing guidelines, procedures and updates; developing and participating in student activities; functioning as a liaison with internal and external constituents; monitoring and evaluating student services and operational effectiveness, and effecting changes required for improvement.

You are charged with carrying out the mission and strategic plan of the organization through effective and efficient coordination of operations, the development of opportunities, stakeholder relations, and strategic initiatives.

Individuals who are first-generation college students/graduates or from low-income backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will begin as either a Student Services Coordinator/Advisor 1 or Student Services Coordinator/Advisor 2 depending on your level of experience.

Additional Information

This is a full time (100% FTE), temporary position. This position is overtime eligible.

Temporary End Date:
This is a temporary position expected to end on 08/31/2026. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.

Monthly Salary:
Student Services Coordinator/Advisor 1: $3,750.85 – $4,575, Student Services Coordinator/Advisor 2: $4,061.90 – $5,075. Commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications Student Services Coordinator/Advisor 1
  • Bachelor's degree and two years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‑for‑year basis.
Student Services Coordinator/Advisor 2
  • Bachelor's degree and three years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. Experience leading or directing the work of others. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‑for‑year basis.
Required Qualifications for All Ranks
  • Demonstrated experience working successfully with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and the public.
  • Demonstrated experience in programming and student service.
  • Broad knowledge of and work experience with student transition issues and retention related to the target population.
  • Demonstrated computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability, and willingness, to work some weekends and evenings.
Preferred Qualifications for All Ranks
  • Experience with programs serving low-income students.
  • Experience providing residential programming.
  • Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations, resolve conflict, and problem solve.
