Experience
10 to 15 years of progressive experience in academia, research, industry, or a combination thereof, with significant leadership exposure in Artificial Intelligence or related domains.
Education
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree (B.tech/B.E./ M.E/M.Tech / BCA/ MCA/Bsc Comp/ Msc Comp)
- Strong academic credentials with publications, patents, funded research projects, or industry innovations preferred
- Additional certifications in AI, leadership, or academic administration will be an added advantage
Role Summary
The Dean – Centre of Artificial Intelligence will provide academic, strategic, and operational leadership to establish and grow the Centre of Artificial Intelligence as a hub of excellence in education, research, innovation, and industry collaboration. The role demands a visionary leader capable of shaping AI-driven academic programs, fostering cutting-edge research, building strong industry and global partnerships, and mentoring faculty and students to address real-world challenges using AI technologies.
Roles and Responsibilities
Academic & Strategic Leadership
- Define and execute the vision, mission, and long-term strategy of the Centre of Artificial Intelligence
- Design, review, and continuously enhance AI-focused academic programs, curricula, and certifications aligned with global standards and emerging trends
- Ensure academic excellence, accreditation compliance, and quality assurance across all AI programs
Research & Innovation
- Lead and promote advanced research initiatives in AI, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Data Science, Robotics, and allied areas
- Encourage interdisciplinary research and collaboration with other departments and institutions
- Secure research grants, funding, and sponsored projects from government bodies, industry, and international agencies
- Promote publications in high-impact journals, patents, and commercialization of research outputs
Faculty & Talent Development
- Recruit, mentor, and retain high-quality faculty, researchers, and technical staff
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and ethical AI practices
- Conduct performance reviews and support professional development initiatives
Industry & External Engagement
- Build strong partnerships with industry, startups, research labs, and global universities
- Facilitate internships, live projects, joint research, and technology transfer opportunities
- Represent the Centre at conferences, academic forums, industry panels, and advisory boards
Student Engagement & Outcomes
- Guide students in academic progression, research, innovation, and entrepreneurship
- Support student-led startups, AI labs, hackathons, and innovation challenges
- Ensure strong placement outcomes and career pathways for graduates
Governance & Administration
- Oversee budgeting, resource planning, infrastructure development, and operational efficiency
- Ensure adherence to institutional policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements
- Prepare strategic reports, performance metrics, and presentations for senior leadership
Working Conditions
- Full-time senior leadership role based at the institution’s campus
- Standard academic working hours with flexibility based on academic, research, and administrative needs
- Occasional travel required for conferences, industry meetings, collaborations, and academic events
