Description
As a Health and Safety Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that all health and safety policies are implemented effectively across both office environments and field operations in the territories where Davies has an operational presence in the Americas. Currently these are the United States, Canada, Brazil and Bermuda, of which the main concentration of employees and sites is in the US and Canada.
You will lead a team dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of workplace safety and compliance with all relevant legislation.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties and responsibilities will include, but not limited to: Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety plans that align with company objectives and legal requirements.
Develop and maintain a Health and Safety Governance framework for the business in conjunction with an equivalent role holder in the UK covering European and APAC countries where Davies has an operational presence.
Conduct risk assessments and design mitigation strategies to minimise occupational health risks.
Oversee the health and safety performance of both office colleagues and field teams, ensuring best practices are followed.
Provide training and support to all employees on health and safety matters, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Lead investigations into accidents and near-miss incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practices across the territories in the Americas where Davies operates.
Prepare reports and present findings to senior management, recommending improvements where necessary.
Liaise with external health and safety consultants and regulatory bodies as required.
Ensure all First Aider and Fire Marshall responsibilities are carried out as per agreed policy and procedures.
Ensure health and safety policies and procedures are continually reviewed and updated
Produce reports for health and safety statistics, and trends writing regular articles in order to communicate to all employees on health and safety issues and changes to regulations.
Work collaboratively with external and internal departments to ensure smooth running of health and safety on site, taking appropriate action to address issues or concerns in a timely manner.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Being qualified to NEBOSH Diploma (or closest local equivalent)
Hold a IOSH Managing Safety Certificates (or equivalent) Job description template - FINAL
Hold a IOSH Risk Awareness Certificates (or equivalent)
Hold a Manual Handling for Assessors Certificate (or equivalent)
Fire management and risk assessment experience essential
Committed to providing excellent customer care with the ability to communicate in verbal and written forms at all levels
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and work to tight deadlines
Ability to give constructive feedback to all levels of staff
