Job Description:
Role Overview
We're seeking an experienced Automation Test Engineer (Healthcare Tech) to establish and scale our testing infrastructure across our web, API, and mobile platforms. This is a foundational role where you'll design and implement comprehensive test automation strategies, build testing frameworks from the ground up, and ensure the reliability and quality of our healthcare-critical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Test Strategy & Implementation:
- Design and implement end-to-end test automation strategies for web (React/Type Script), backend APIs (Node/Type Script), and mobile (Flutter) applications
- Build and maintain Playwright test suites for web applications with a focus on critical user workflows
- Develop API test automation using JMeter for load/performance testing and Jest for functional API testing
- Create and maintain Flutter integration and widget tests for mobile applications
- Establish testing best practices, standards, and documentation for the engineering team
Quality Assurance & Reliability:
- Develop comprehensive test plans for new features with consideration for healthcare compliance requirements
- Implement CI/CD pipeline integration for automated testing across all platforms
- Monitor and improve test coverage metrics, identifying gaps in existing test suites
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate testing early in the development lifecycle
- Perform root cause analysis on test failures and production issues
Healthcare Domain Considerations
- Understand and test for HIPAA compliance requirements and data security protocols
- Validate API integrations with EHR systems (Epic, eClinical
Works) and HL7/FHIR standards
- Test complex healthcare workflows including patient data handling, appointment scheduling, and clinical documentation
- Ensure audit logging and compliance tracking functionality works correctly
Required Qualifications
Technical Skills
- 3+ years of experience in test automation with at least 2 years in a similar role
- Strong proficiency in Type Script/JavaScript for test development
- Hands-on experience with Playwright for web automation testing
- Experience with Jest for unit and integration testing
- Proficiency with JMeter or similar tools for API load and performance testing
- Experience with Flutter testing framework (widget tests, integration tests)
- Strong understanding of API testing methodologies (REST, Graph
QL)
- Experience with CI/CD tools (Git Hub Actions, Jenkins, Git Lab CI, or similar)
- Proficiency in version control with Git and collaborative development workflows
Testing Expertise
- Deep understanding of testing pyramids and when to apply different testing strategies
- Experience with test data management and mock data generation
- Knowledge of test design patterns (Page Object Model, Screenplay pattern, etc.)
- Experience with visual regression testing tools
- Understanding of accessibility testing (WCAG standards)
- Experience with database testing and validation
Soft Skills & Mindset
- Self-starter who can work independently and take ownership of the testing infrastructure
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills to work with cross-functional teams
- Ability to balance speed with quality in a fast-paced startup environment
- Proactive in identifying potential issues before they reach production
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in healthcare technology or other regulated industries (fintech, etc.)
- Understanding of HIPAA, GDPR, or similar compliance frameworks
- Experience with multi-tenant SaaS platform testing
- Knowledge of security testing practices and tools
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Data Dog, Sentry, etc.)
- Familiarity with mobile test automation on both iOS and Android
- Experience with visual testing tools (Percy, Chromatic, etc.)
- Background in performance optimization and bottleneck identification
- Experience mentoring junior QA engineers or developers on testing practices
