ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs orderly and systematic evaluations and examinations of scenes and patients.
  • Provides care, treatment, and transport in accordance with the knowledge and skills of a certified Paramedic under the provisions of Chapter 401 F.S. and Florida Administrative Code 64J‑1.
  • Administers advanced emergency medical procedures following approved protocols.
  • Responds to emergencies and performs related functions as required.
  • Supports firefighting activities in a non‑combat role.
  • Completes reports and records.
  • Ensures that all supplies, equipment, and apparatus are sufficient, operational, and properly maintained.
  • Attends and participates in company drills and training sessions.
Minimum Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent.

Licenses and/or Certificates
  • Certificate of Completion from a State of Florida EMS/HRS certified training center or equivalent as approved by EMS/HRS.
  • Current certification by the State of Florida as a Paramedic.
  • Successful completion and maintenance of an American Heart Association BLS card.
  • Successful completion and maintenance of an American Heart Association ACLS card.
  • E.V.O.C. certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
  • Possession of a State of Florida driver's license (Class E minimum).
  • Successful completion of Fire Academy and Florida State certification as a FFII may be required after hire at discretion of the Fire Chief.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of advanced emergency medical practices, procedures, techniques, and protocols in accordance with the United States Department of Transportation advanced training program.
  • Knowledge of all standards as set forth by the State of Florida in Florida Statutes, Chapter 401 and Florida Administrative Code 64J‑1 relative to function.
  • Knowledge and ability to successfully pass a comprehensive orientation and testing process approved by the Medical Director.
  • Mechanical Aptitude and ability to operate relatively complex equipment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the public.
  • Ability to successfully pass physical agility tests and to frequently lift more than 50 pounds.
