Overview

Desoto County Sherriff's Office Clinician

Sign-on Bonus: $4,000

Responsibilities
  • Work in conjunction with the Desoto County Sheriff's Office to perform outreach, coordination, education and follow up of services for Desoto County Residents.
  • Work with individuals and families to prevent crisis and promote treatment engagement, while assessing risk ongoing.
  • Help individuals address addictions and substance abuse; family, parenting and marital problems; suicide; stress management; financial issues; and issues related to aging and mental and emotional health.
  • Refer individuals to various social services in Desoto and surrounding counties.
  • Provide monitoring, engagement, and coordination with Sheriff's Office personnel, CBHC and other behavioral health providers, delivering interventions to persons presenting in crisis.
  • Receive referrals from the Sheriff’s Office (typically individuals with many dispatches for MH related issues and senior referrals), schools and other providers; monitor those identified in need of services and encourage engagement in treatment to prevent individuals from falling through the cracks.
  • Maintain accurate, complete and up-to-date documentation in accordance with internal and external audit standards.
  • Provide clinical services as needed, cooperating with agency staff and external partners, and interacting with the community on behalf of the program.
  • Perform screenings and other clinical services.
  • Adopt a proactive approach to prevent crises by recognizing red flags and engaging before crises escalate.

  • Master’s degree in counseling or related field.
