Deckhand – American Cruise Lines
American Cruise Lines, the largest U.S. cruise company, is hiring Deckhands for the 2026 season. This temporary position requires working aboard for 28 weeks and focuses on ensuring a safe, seamless voyage for all guests while representing our brand proudly.
Pay RangeBase pay ranges from $1,000 to $1,400 per week, with additional bonuses. All major living expenses—including room, board, uniforms, and paid training—are covered aboard.
Responsibilities- Handle lines, gangways, anchors, and marine equipment under the guidance of Captains and Mates.
- Perform daily exterior cleaning, line handling, and logistic support tasks.
- Assist the Captain and Mate with helm watches.
- Stand gangway and deck watches, providing security, maintenance, and passenger assistance.
- Load and unload guest luggage, ship stores, garbage, and complete daily logistics tasks.
- Clean all exterior decks, verandas, windows, furniture, and marine spaces.
- Wash, dry, and fold ship laundry.
- Maintain professional grooming and uniform appearance at all times.
- Remain continually available to assist guests and crew.
- Rotate through day‑night watch and task schedules averaging 12 hours daily.
- Competitive wages ranging from $1,000 to $1,400 per week, plus bonuses.

- Travel to and from the vessel, room and board, uniforms, and paid training provided.
- Experience multiple itineraries across 35+ states in America.
- Build lifelong memories and relationships with crew and guests nationwide.
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- American citizen or Green Card holder.
- Willing and able to work at least 12 hours per day, 7 days per week, for up to 28 weeks.
- Physical capability to lift, bend, climb, and stand or walk for extended periods.
- Compliance with pre‑employment drug testing (including marijuana and other controlled substances).
- Strict prohibition on alcohol consumption while on board.
- Adherence to grooming standards, including limitations on visible tattoos and piercings.
- Temporary employment position not extending beyond 28 weeks of shipboard work.
- Potential, but not guaranteed, for future management positions within the company.
All shipboard employees undergo comprehensive emergency and safety training essential to the safe operation of the vessel.
