Overview
Position Summary: A skilled laborer position responsible for the maintenance and repair of waste water treatment plant equipment and systems.
Essential Functions and Duties- Performs plumbing repairs and construction on treatment facilities and grounds.
- Maintains plant grounds and buildings.
- Performs maintenance on pumps, compressors and other mechanical equipment associated with water treatment equipment and systems at treatment plant.
- Performs routine maintenance on electrical motor control centers.
- Operation of sludge drawing and drying process.
- Provides assistance in repair of water & chemical feed lines at the Waste Water Treatment Plant.
- Operation of backhoe loader, dump truck, tractor and bush-hog.
- Provides after hours coverage of emergency pager on rotating basis.
- Performs troubleshooting and repair of plant equipment.
- Performs welding tasks, including some major projects.

- Knowledge of materials, practices, and equipment used in treating waste water.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions associated with operating light, medium, and heavy construction equipment.
- Knowledge of common hand and power tools.
- Strong working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, structural, and utility materials, including practical application.
- Skill in the operation of equipment used in waste water treatment system construction, maintenance and repair activities.
- Skill in diagnosing and repairing equipment and system problems.
- Skill in understanding and following oral and written instructions.
- Able to read and interpret plans, blueprints, manuals, and diagrams.
- Able to perform general math calculations including formulas.
- Able to prioritize and complete multiple tasks.
- Able to work effectively either alone or in a group situation.
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate highly desirable, but not required.
- Must have at least 3 years’ experience in similar type of work.
- Valid Florida driver’s license required, Class “A” CDL.
- Occasionally may be asked to oversee the activities of Utilities Maintenance Worker I and II personnel or act as temporary Crew Chief.
