Job Description
Our Pet Resort is hiring various staff members that will cover a variety of areas from front desk receptionist, pet daycare, and kennel tech responsibilities. If you enjoy a diverse work environment and love pets, you'll fit right in here at Blue Ridge.

Schedule:

Various schedules are available. Normally these are 8‑hour schedules: mornings, mid‑day, and PM.

Overall Requirements:

  • Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.
  • Must have transportation.

Reception Qualifications

  • Professional appearance.
  • Hardworking and able to work under fast‑paced pressure situations.
  • Able to multitask.
  • Professional communication skills – oral and written.
  • Kind and outspoken (not shy, comfortable chatting with clients).
  • Comfortable with computers, including Excel and Word.
  • Comfortable answering the phone.
  • Animal lover – clients love it when the receptionist dotes on animals.
  • Comfortable handling cash drawer and credit card machine.
  • Organized.
  • Able to prioritize client service before busywork.
  • Team player and willing to work with others to best assist clients.
  • Willing to be trained and able to incorporate constructive feedback.

Kennel Qualifications

  • Hardworking.
  • Ok under stressful situations.
  • Can handle cleaning animal waste including but not limited to feces, urine, vomit, and other animal bodily fluids.
  • No animal allergies or allergies to bleach and cleaners.
  • No injuries – must be able to do heavy lifting, scrubbing and cleaning, and lifting animals out of crates and into baths.
  • Flexible work schedule (AM shifts 5:45 am – 2:45 pm, PM shift 1:30 pm – 10:30 pm).
  • Team player and self‑motivated – should be able to take instructions from shift supervisors but also stay self‑motivated while cleaning and attending to assigned wards.
  • Willing to learn.
  • Animal handling experience is welcome but not required if willing to learn.
  • Respect for animals and the cautions and dangers that come along with the job.
  • Willingness to learn and be trained as well as receive constructive feedback to better animal husbandry skills.
