Assistant Controller

We are a growing technology staffing and consulting firm seeking a hands-on Assistant Controller to own our accounting, payroll oversight, invoicing, cash flow, and financial controls. This role is ideal for someone with staffing or professional services experience who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and enjoys partnering with leadership to support growth.

• Own month-end close, general ledger, and financial reporting (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
• Oversee payroll for W-2 and Corp-to-Corp consultants (multi-state)
• Ensure accurate client invoicing tied to approved timesheets, contracts, and POs
• Manage cash flow forecasting, A/R aging, and collections support
• Ensure compliance with payroll taxes, labor laws, workers’ comp, and unemployment
• Analyze margins, burden rates, and profitability by client and consultant
• Own and improve financial systems (ATS/back-office, payroll, accounting)
• Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and scaling the business

• 7+ years of accounting/finance experience
• Prior experience in staffing, consulting, or professional services strongly preferred
• Strong payroll, invoicing, and multi-state compliance knowledge
• Experience with ADP payroll and accounting systems (Quick Books or similar)
• Detail-oriented, hands-on, and comfortable owning processes end-to-end
• Strong Excel and financial analysis skills
