Certified Athletic Trainer or Licensed Physical Therapist

Location: Purchase, New York

Contract Term: 1 year with two (2) optional 1‑year renewals (maximum 3 years)

Schedule
  • Up to 18 hours per week, typically 6 hours per day, 3 days per week (Mon, Wed, Fri)
  • Aligned with academic semesters:
    • Fall:
      Late August – December
    • Spring:
      Late January – Early May
  • Additional hours during production or rehearsal weeks as needed.
Supervision & Reporting
  • Reports To:

    Director of Dance
  • Collaborates With:
    Faculty, Student Health Services, and University Police
  • Provided Resources:
    Dedicated on‑campus treatment space and necessary equipment
Responsibilities

The clinician will support approximately 195 pre‑professional dance students in the Conservatory of Dance by providing injury evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, prevention instruction, and health education to enhance dancer performance and safety.

Required Qualifications
  • Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) or Licensed Physical Therapist (NYS)
  • Proven experience in injury prevention and rehabilitation for dancers, athletes, or performing artists
  • Strong communication, documentation, and instructional skills
  • Experience developing injury prevention programs and emergency response protocols
  • Current CPR/AED certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in academic or conservatory dance settings
  • Familiarity with dance‑specific biomechanics and conditioning
  • Experience delivering group workshops or injury‑prevention courses
