Job Summary
The CT Technologist, under the direction of the radiologist, DI Administration and/or Lead CT Technologist, performs professional duties which involve a variety of technical procedures to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for CT scans. The CT Technologist assists physicians in selection of practical application and technical factors.
Responsibilities- Performs a variety of CT exams related to the field, including invasive procedures and IV insertion.
- Explains the procedure to the patient.
- Sets, adjusts, manipulates, controls, and maintains complex electronic equipment to apply ionizing radiation to patients for diagnosis of disease.
- Administers prescribed contrast media according to established guidelines.
- Assists in interventional CT exams.
- Completed two years of an approved Radiological Technology Program is required.
- Registered with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists is required.
- A current license in the State of Connecticut is required.
- CT Registered and an active State of Connecticut CT License are required.
- Maintaining appropriate CEU's to meet ARRT guidelines is required.
- CPR – Current AHA Healthcare Provider Certification / equivalent within 3 months of hire is required.
- Approved contrast injection training according to the D.I. Medical Director is required.
- Minimum of 1‑year practical experience performing related duties as a CT technologist including IV insertion is preferred.
- Computer skills:
Mainframe system entry, Teleradiology system. - High degree of technical aptitude with an in‑depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
