Responsibilities
  • Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
  • Register sales on assigned cash register, providing customers with courteous, fair, friendly, and efficient checkout service.
  • Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state and federal regulations; use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them, offering assistance with products and services, resolving customer issues and answering questions to ensure a positive experience.
  • Share customer service best practices with all team members, including interpersonal habits such as greeting, eye contact, courtesy, and Walgreens service traits such as offering help proactively and identifying needs.
  • Provide courteous, friendly, fast, and efficient service.
  • Recommend items for sale, trade‑ups or companion items.
  • Collect cash, distribute change, process voids, returns, rain checks, refunds, and exchanges as needed; take customers to OTC aisle when possible.
  • Keep counters and shelves clean and well merchandised, take inventory and maintain records; check in and price merchandise as required or directed.
  • Enter patient and drug information into pharmacy systems, ensure correct data entry, fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, pouring drugs, verifying correctness, checking for possible interactions, and assist pharmacists with scheduling and workflow.
  • Immediately report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies and procedures regarding pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program; review and comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
  • Strictly adhere to Walgreen Co. policies regarding Good Faith Dispensing during applicable prescription dispensing activities.
  • Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist’s personal attention, including calls to physicians.
  • Process, correct and resubmit manual claims for third‑party prescription services efficiently; perform other clerical duties as assigned.
  • Support Pharmacy Department inventory management activities such as ordering, unpacking, checking and storing pharmaceutical shipment; maintain knowledge of asset protection techniques and file claims for warehouse overages, shortages or order errors involving prescription drugs.
  • Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products (e.g., alcoholic beverages, tobacco).
  • Construct and maintain displays, including promotional, seasonal, super structures and sale merchandise; complete resets and revisions as directed.
  • Separate food items (raw vs. pre‑cooked) and place products per policy; rotate consumables using first‑in, first‑out method and restock outs.
  • Maintain working knowledge of store systems and equipment.
  • Provide customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photo service, poster print and creative machine, suggestively selling promotional photo products.
  • Assume web pick‑up responsibilities (monitor orders in Picture Care Plus, pick items, deliver orders to customers as they arrive).
  • Assist with exterior and interior maintenance to keep store clean, neat, orderly appearance.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures; maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
  • Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
  • Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration.
  • Attend training and complete PPLs requested by manager or assigned by corporate; acquire continuing education credits; maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments.
Basic Qualifications
  • Fluency in reading, writing and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekend hours.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Prefer good math skills to accurately fill prescriptions (counting, measuring, weighing).
  • Prefer good computer skills.
  • Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
  • Prefer PTCB certification.
