CFHV is a regional philanthropic hub that connects donors, community leaders, and organizations to create lasting impact across Dutchess, Putnam, and Ulster counties. Established in 1969, CFHV manages over $130 million in assets and administers more than 600 charitable funds that invest in the people, places, and possibilities that make the Hudson Valley thrive. In 2024 alone, CFHV distributed over $20 million in grants and scholarships to advance opportunity and community vitality throughout the Hudson Valley.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Vice President of Development will lead the implementation of a comprehensive asset development plan and strategy, deepening engagement with existing donors and identifying new opportunities. Focus will be on advancing planned giving initiatives, cultivating philanthropic partnerships, and strengthening CFHV’s presence within professional advisor communities.

In this senior leadership role, you will manage a team that includes regional vice presidents of development and a philanthropic services associate. You will foster collaboration, set clear goals, and hold staff accountable for results. As a strategic partner to the Foundation’s leadership team, you will collaborate closely with the Vice President for Programs and Strategic Partnerships to align donor intentions with community needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and execute a strategic fundraising plan to increase institutional giving and diversify revenue streams.
  • Lead the planning and execution of capital campaigns, major gift solicitations, and planned giving programs.
  • Build and sustain relationships with institutional supporters, foundations, corporate partners, and individual donors.
  • Collaborate with the chief financial officer and board to develop budgets and financial reports related to fundraising.
  • Oversee donor stewardship, recognition, and reporting to maintain long‑term partnerships.
  • Represent CFHV at community events, professional conferences, and partnership meetings.
  • Serve as a thought partner to senior leadership, providing insights into market trends, opportunities, and strategy.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, tax laws, and best practices in nonprofit fundraising.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ten years of progressively responsible development experience in the nonprofit or related sector.
  • Strong track record of leading teams and securing significant donor support.
  • High emotional intelligence, outstanding interpersonal skills, and the ability to inspire donors.
  • Experience with donor tracking systems, stewardship processes, and fundraising databases.
  • In-depth knowledge of nonprofit compliance, tax regulations, and disclosure requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and proficiency in storytelling to promote the Foundation’s mission.
  • Ability to build consensus, develop collaborative relationships, and influence at all organizational levels.
  • Proven ability to set and achieve measurable goals, regularly assess performance, and hold teams accountable.
  • Preferred: CFRE designation, degree from a recognized fundraising program, or experience with community foundations.
COMPENSATION

The projected compensation range for this position is $135,000 to $150,000 based on education and experience, and includes competitive benefits.
