Registered Nurse; RN , Part Time Nights Emergency Department

Overview

Day Kimball Health is hiring for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department. This position is Part Time Night Shift with a 24-hour schedule (7:00pm – 7:00am) in Putnam, CT. This role is eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $20,000
.

• Accountable for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients in the Emergency Department
• Assesses the health status of patients/families through comprehensive health history and physical examination
• Initiates selected therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, consultations, and laboratory examinations; interprets findings and alters plans of care according to protocols in the designated area
• Educates and counsels patients and families on health promotion, disease prevention, and management of acute/chronic illnesses
• Documents findings and the plan of care in the patient’s medical record
• Consults with physicians per established Day Kimball Hospital policy
• Intervenes to ensure a safe environment and evaluates the effectiveness of interventions

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing is required
• Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the state of Connecticut is required
• American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent is required; if not currently certified, must obtain within three (3) months of employment
• Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area

• Ability to recognize unsafe and life-threatening situations and intervene appropriately
• Demonstrated critical thinking, effective communication, organizational skills, problem solving, and ability to make independent decisions
• Working knowledge of applicable Standards of Practice
• Compassionate customer service and ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and healthcare colleagues
• Solid foundation in evaluating plans of care and reformulating as necessary
