The Registered Nurse of the Wound Center reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager. Utilizing the nursing process, provides high‑quality direct and indirect patient‑centered care. Coordinates patient care by working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team, patients and families, responding quickly and accurately to changes in condition or treatment. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan and the skills necessary to provide age‑appropriate care.
Promotes the profession of nursing and professional practice through collegial support and interactions.
- Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
- Current licensure in the state of Connecticut.
- Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support upon hire or within the introductory orientation period.
- Maintain clinical competency required for the area during employment.
- Previous Med‑surg nursing experience.
- Wound Care experience preferred.
- Effective verbal and written communication in English.
- Basic computer skills.

- Perform population‑specific comprehensive assessments and re‑assessments of the medical and surgical patient’s condition and care needs, including psychosocial, physical, educational and cultural aspects.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan, including pediatric, adult and geriatric populations, and provide age‑appropriate care to patients served.
- Assess and reassess pain, utilize appropriate pain management tools, educate patients and families, and document effectiveness.
- Develop and revise individualized plans of care, evaluate daily effectiveness, and involve patients and families in goal formulation.
- Follow medication rights, safeguard against medication errors, and demonstrate knowledge of correct administration based on patient age and condition.
- Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and promotes positive outcomes.
- Document the nursing process and responses to care in a timely manner using appropriate tools.
- Demonstrate flexibility, organization and ability to function under stress, utilizing critical thinking and sound judgment for priority setting and delegation.
- Formulate and implement teaching plans for patients and families, evaluating effectiveness.
- Practice autonomously, consistently with evidence‑based standards, pursuing professional growth and serving as a role model and mentor.
- Provide accurate and pertinent reports of patient condition for safe transfer of care.
- Assess, stage, and measure wounds accurately in accordance with policy.
- Implement, follow, and evaluate all Restorix Health protocols and processes.
