Day Kimball Health is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Emergency Department Per Diem Night Shift 8-Hours in Putnam, CT.
Job SummaryAs the Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN), you will be a vital member of a dynamic team responsible for diagnosing and responding to actual or potential health problems and for providing basic emergent, supportive, and restorative care through the nursing process. - Accountable for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients in our Emergency Department.
- Assesses the health status of patients/families by means of comprehensive health history and physical examination.
- Initiates selected therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, consultations, and laboratory examinations, interprets findings, and alters plan of care according to collaborative practice agreement and protocols in designated area.
- Educates and counsels in the areas of health promotion, maintenance, disease prevention, and management of acute/chronic illnesses.
- Documents findings and plan of care in the patient’s medical record.
- Consults with physician per established Day Kimball Hospital policy.
- Intervenes to provide a safe environment and evaluates the effectiveness of intervention for patients.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing is required.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the state of Connecticut is required.
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent is required; if not currently certified, must obtain within three (3) months of employment.
- Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area.

- Demonstrated skills in critical thinking, effective communication, organizational skills, problem solving, and ability to make appropriate independent decisions.
- Working knowledge of applicable Standards of Practice.
- Demonstrated compassionate customer service and ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and health‑care colleagues.
- Solid foundation in evaluating plans of care and reformulating as necessary.
