Assistant Coach for Wrestling

Putnam High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Coach for the Wrestling program. We are looking for a passionate individual who can help foster skill development, promote teamwork, and support our student‑athletes' growth both on and off the mat.

• Assist the Head Coach with planning, organizing, and executing practices and games.
• Improve student‑athletes' fundamental wrestling skills, tactical understanding, and physical conditioning.
• Help with practice/game set‑up and breakdown, and supervise students during all team activities to ensure safety and policy adherence.
• Contribute to a positive, disciplined, and sportsmanlike team culture.
• Maintain effective communication with the Head Coach, players, parents, and athletic staff.
• Ensure adherence to all school, district, ECC, and CIAC rules and regulations.
• Serve as a positive role model, promoting academic integrity, sportsmanship, and responsibility.
• Assist with inventory, equipment management, and other administrative duties as needed.
• Support organized off‑season training, conditioning, and summer league activities as directed by the Head Coach.

• CT Certification 600:
  Interscholastic/Intramural Coach or eligibility for certification.
• First Aid/CPR Certification.
• Demonstrated knowledge of wrestling fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to inspire and motivate student‑athletes.
• Commitment to academic excellence and holistic student development.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check.

Rate of Pay: $3,836 for the 2025‑2026 School Year.
