Head Coach for Wrestling

Putnam Middle School is seeking an energetic and dedicated individual to lead our Middle School Wrestling Program as Head Coach for the upcoming season. We are looking for a committed coach who will foster a positive, supportive, and safe environment while teaching fundamental wrestling skills, sportsmanship, and discipline to our student‑athletes.

• Program Leadership:
  Oversee all aspects of the middle school wrestling program, focusing on participation, skill building, and a positive team culture.
• Coaching & Instruction:
  Plan and conduct effective, age‑appropriate practices focusing on fundamental techniques, safety, conditioning, and rules of wrestling.
• Match Management:
  Develop and organize lineups, manage matches, and make strategic decisions during competition.
• Student Development:
  Mentor student‑athletes, emphasizing sportsmanship, responsibility, and commitment to academic success.
• Administrative Tasks:
  Manage equipment inventory, coordinate travel logistics, and maintain communication with the Athletic Director, school staff, and parents.
• Compliance:
  Ensure adherence to all school, district, and athletic association rules and regulation.

• CT Certification 600:
  Interscholastic/Intramural Coach or eligibility for certification required.
• First Aid/CPR Certification.
• Demonstrated knowledge of wrestling fundamentals, techniques, and safety protocols for middle school athletes.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to inspire and motivate student‑athletes.
• Commitment to academic excellence and holistic student development.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check.

Rate of Pay: $2,879 for the  School Year.
