Puyallup School District is seeking qualified applicants with skills, abilities, and willingness to support our deaf and hard of hearing program and to provide coverage for absent ASL Interpreter Tutors throughout the district.

Position Hours/Days: At-Will/On-call, based on the 2025-26 SY Calendar.

Position Rate of Pay: $42.34/hr.

Essential Functions and Required Qualifications:

• Fluent in ASL.
• Ability and desire to work at least 2 times a month.
• Completion of an Interpreter Training program (Preferred).
• Bachelor's Degree (Preferred).

Note:

Candidates meeting Washington State Educational Interpreter Requirements may be eligible for both temporary and permanent positions. Applicants must upload documentation such as:

• Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 4.0 or higher and passing written test; or
• National Interpreter Certification from RID and passing written test.

Required Testing: EIPA and written test.

Clearances: Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.

Additional Information:

• This position is screened by the Substitute Services Office (~Sub Services) and hired by the Special Services Department.
• Selected candidates will complete onboarding, including paperwork, online orientation, and fingerprint scanning.
