Red Dot Corporation, the leading producer of premium mobile HVAC units and components for heavy‑dutty commercial and military vehicles, is recruiting for the following position:
Production Operative - Subassembly/Wire Shop/Detail Assembly
FLSA: Non‑Exempt
Shift: Days, Monday - Thursday 10 hour shifts
Compensation: $19.00 – $20.00 per hour
The hourly rate for this position is expected to range between $19.00 and $20.00, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications. Final compensation will be determined based on internal equity and other applicable factors.
Summary DescriptionUnder the general supervision and direction of the Area Team Leader, the Production Operative performs hands‑on tasks within assigned manufacturing work centers. The operative may be assigned to Sub‑Assembly, Wire Shop, or Detail Assembly, and is expected to perform tasks in alignment with company procedures, safety standards, and quality requirements. Assignments may vary based on production needs.
Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)- Perform manufacturing tasks related to assembly or fabrication, including brazing, component installation, wire preparation, or final detailing.
- Adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs), blueprints, work instructions, and method sheets to complete tasks accurately and efficiently.
- Operate tools, machinery, and related equipment safely and correctly.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, participating in daily 5S and housekeeping activities.
- Follow all safety, security, and environmental procedures. Report safety concerns promptly to the supervisor or lead.
- Work at a consistent pace to meet production schedules and quality standards.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding work progress, issues, or changes.
- Participate in cross‑training as required and assist in other areas of production as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Build component assemblies used in the final product assembly.
- Use jigs, fixtures, and hand tools to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Inspect sub‑assembled components to confirm quality and proper fit before advancing to the next stage.
- Track material usage and ensure correct documentation.
- Work across multiple sub‑assembly stations as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Cut, strip, terminate, and crimp wires per provided wire diagrams or schematics.
- Assemble and bundle wire harnesses with correct routing, labels, and identification.
- Perform electrical continuity testing and inspect finished harnesses for defects.
- Operate crimpers, wire strippers, and testing equipment correctly and safely.
- Accurately follow pin‑out diagrams, color codes, and technical documentation.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Install final components, covers, labels, or cosmetic finishes to completed assemblies.
- Use small hand tools for precise placement and fastening.
- Ensure product appearance meets cosmetic quality standards, including alignment and finish.
- Follow detailed work instructions or visual inspection checklists.
- Perform rework or fine adjustments to meet final inspection requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and SOPs.
- Familiarity with quality control standards and visual/mechanical inspection techniques.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and proficiency with hand and power tools.
- Basic computer and data entry skills for tracking production activities.
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Good communication skills for reporting issues and following directions.
- Dependability and consistent attendance required.
- Commitment to safety, product quality, and continuous improvement.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Prior manufacturing or production experience preferred.
- Ability to interpret technical documents and follow instructions accurately.
- Experience with departmental equipment or processes is a plus.
