  • Level 2 Gym Trainer, with specialist modules such as Spin, Circuit Training, Kettlebells (desirable)
  • Previous experience of working in the field of leisure/sports/health (desirable)

Job Description

Purpose of the post

  • Promote and support a healthy way of living for those that use the Leisure Centre and the broader community.
  • Ensure visitors can use the Centre safely, offering high‑standard customer care.
  • Ensure that the people of Gwynedd are at the heart of everything the Centre does.

Responsibility for functions

  • Prepare equipment and facilities by setting up and dismantling equipment as required.
  • Maintain cleaning registers and prepare facilities so that the public may enjoy them safely.
  • Handle money and help run the Leisure Centre's booking system.

Main duties

  • Introduce activity programmes in a motivational and inspirational method as agreed with the Area Manager/Duty Manager.
  • Introduce a programme of swimming activities, providing competent and safe guidance recognised by the Amateur Swimming Society and following the Welsh Water Passport swimming path.
  • Ensure that the induction procedure in the gym is of high standard and motivate customers to return to the Centre regularly.
  • Promote the Centre's fitness packages to customers and convert initial conversations into sales.
  • Engage with customers to identify objections and wishes and promote a healthy lifestyle.
  • Support customers using various methods to motivate and inspire healthful living.
  • Identify the most effective marketing techniques to use with potential customers.
  • Undertake reception responsibilities as required.
  • Ensure a high standard of customer care and promote the relationship between the Centre and customers at all times.
  • Maintain Centre cleanliness to high standards following the Centre's guidelines.
  • Supervise the public safely in a polite and courteous manner.
  • Provide feedback and new ideas to improve the service.
  • Engage with customers on special programmes such as NERS to ensure a smooth continuity after completing the programme.
  • Promote the Welsh language within the Centre by using Welsh as the primary workplace language.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety rules, equal opportunities, and equality policies.
  • Manage information in accordance with company information management guidelines and Data Protection legislation.
  • Commit to reducing the company’s carbon emissions and encourage others to reduce the carbon footprint.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duty matching the salary level and responsibility of the job.
  • Report any suspicion of child or vulnerable adult abuse.

Special circumstances

  • Attend the Centre's Training Scheme when required and update qualifications as needed.
  • Be flexible about work patterns/shifts, including evenings and weekends.
  • Receive an additional allowance for providing fitness/swimming sessions.
  • Participate in the continuous training, personal skills development programme, and appraisal plan.
