Job Summary
An excellent opportunity has arisen within our reception and administrative team to support the smooth running of the practice. You will be working with an established team, supporting the clinical staff on a daily basis.
About UsWe are a friendly GP practice consisting of 6 partners, 1 full‑time nurse, 2 part‑time HCA and an experienced admin team. There are approximately 9,000 patients registered here. We work closely together to ensure a smooth running of the surgery. The practice is located 25 minutes from Cardiff and Swansea and is less than a mile from Junction 37 of the M4.
Job DescriptionThis role is for a 16‑hour medical receptionist/admin assistant. The successful candidate must be flexible, adapt to the daily needs of the practice, cover annual leave and absences when required, and provide general assistance to the practice team, presenting a positive and friendly image to patients and visitors.
Responsibilities:
- Receive, assist and direct patients to the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
- Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive image.
- Work closely with other reception staff to ensure the smooth running of reception and efficient delivery of services.
Hours of work:
- Monday 9 am – 6 pm
- Tuesday 9 am – 4 pm

Person SpecificationEssential
- GCSE grade A to C (9‑4) in English and Maths
- Excellent communication both written and verbal, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi‑task
- Personable and professional approach
- Ability to use IT systems (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Ability to work within a team
- Self‑motivated and proactive
- Be flexible and responsive to the changing needs and priorities of the team/practice
Desirable
- Experience working in a GP practice
- Ability to use a computerized clinical system
- Willingness to cover for a colleague’s absence at short notice
Pay scheme: Depending on experience
