Full-Time Registered Midwife in Oceanside

Join Island Health as a full-time Registered Midwife, providing comprehensive maternity care in the beautiful Oceanside community.

Your role includes antenatal, postpartum, and home birth support services for local families.

Island Health’s Department of Midwifery is looking for a dedicated professional to meet the needs of families in Parksville, Qualicum Beach, and surrounding areas. As a midwife at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH), you will collaborate with a team of 14 permanent midwives, supporting around 1,200 births annually. This position requires full licensure with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives and relevant training experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide full-scope midwifery care including antenatal and postpartum support

• Offer home birth services to families in the community

• Work alongside obstetricians and pediatricians for seamless care

• Attend deliveries at NRGH

• Support clients through all phases of pregnancy and birth

Requirements:

• Eligibility for full licensure with BCCNM

• Relevant education and midwifery training

• Commitment to complete Indigenous Cultural Safety training

• Experience in both community and hospital settings

• Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals
