Job Overview

Our client, a well‑established private company with approximately 300 employees in Quebec, is looking for a dedicated, versatile, and discreet Payroll and Administration Clerk (commis paie et administration) to join its team.

Job type:
Permanent, full‑time (hybrid work environment). The role combines roughly 50% payroll and 50% accounting/administration tasks.

Payroll team consists of two members, and a specialized external support is available when workload increases.

Responsibilities
  • Support the payroll team in processing payroll, including maintaining payroll data and ensuring accurate deductions.
  • Apply collective agreements and conventions specific to payroll.
  • Verify payroll information for corrections, status changes, special rates, bonuses, leave balances, illness, and other adjustments.
  • Respond to internal payroll‑related inquiries.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly payroll reports.
  • Assist in tracking payroll deductions and remittances to tax authorities.
  • Help compile employment reporting and annual statements.
  • Maintain employee files and payroll data.
  • Handle general accounting duties (e.g., invoicing, payables, data entry for administrative information).
  • Develop sufficient autonomy to ensure operational continuity during colleague absences or vacations.
Qualifications
  • Education in administration, accounting, payroll, or a related field.
  • 0‑5 years of overall experience in an administrative or accounting role, ideally related to payroll.
  • Proficiency with Excel and standard office software.
  • Strong attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to manage confidential information.
  • Self‑sufficiency, good judgment, and strong prioritization skills.
  • Interest in a versatile role that blends payroll and administrative duties.
