The Art Director is responsible for clearly communicating their artistic vision across all artistic disciplines, aligning it with the project and franchise's goals and ambitions. This essential role unites the team around this vision, while considering production constraints and development realities. The successful candidate is an artist with a strong understanding of production pipelines, capable of discussing concept, modeling, texturing, lighting, and technical integration.

This person also acts as a liaison between our artistic team and our external partners.

  • Collaborate with creative, technology, and production teams to achieve key milestones;
  • Participate in the artistic recruitment process;
  • Maintain a balance between technical constraints and the artistic vision;
  • Plan and supervise artistic teams;
  • Provide artistic leadership to drive the overall project vision;
  • Act as a mentor to the artistic team;
  • Adhere to BKOM Studios' confidentiality and IT security policies when using shared resources;
  • All other related tasks.
Requirements
  • More than 5 years of leadership experience in art direction for AA and/or AAA games;
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in the video game industry;
  • In-depth knowledge of all artistic disciplines, including concept, character, animation, environment, visual effects, user interface, lighting, shading and rendering;
  • Innovative capabilities and excellent understanding of the creative process;
  • Portfolio of personal and professional artistic achievements;
  • Experience in creating original intellectual properties for video games;
  • Experience working with the Unreal engine; knowledge of other game engines is a plus;
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to visualize and communicate ideas;
  • Ability to contribute directly to artistic creation through concrete examples;
  • Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills;
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada;
  • Proficiency in French, both spoken and written.
