** Role:
** Radio-Canada Regional Media is seeking a Specialized Reporter to produce in-depth reports and analytical features. In this role, you will focus on fact-checking, image/video verification and news analysis, specifically targeting the spread of disinformation, fake news and information manipulation. Your content will be delivered across all platforms — primarily digital, but also news, radio and television — and must adhere to CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices.

* Key Responsibilities:
*** Actively track current events across social networks, private messaging platforms and online communities where rumours, misinformation and manipulated content frequently circulate.
* Establish and maintain a robust network of sources within the global fact-checking and research communities, staying current on advanced fact-checking techniques, open-source intelligence (OSINT) and image/video verification.
* Attend story meetings. Propose and receive fact-checking and news verification assignments. Identify, verify and debunk false claims, misleading statistics and doctored media circulating publicly and online.
* Research, gather, evaluate and verify complex information on issues and events across the political, social, community, economic, cultural, scientific and public health sectors. Trace information back to its primary sources and analyze how disinformation spreads.
* Plan assignments around the story to be told, outlining your investigative process clearly within your reports. Conduct interviews and assess their relevance. Co-ordinate field production for television as needed. Gather audio recordings for radio.
* Review audio and visual elements. Select or suggest the most impactful clips. Provide data and context for graphic illustrations and data visualizations in your reports.
* Pitch story angles. Write and narrate scripts tailored for digital-first formats (text, short-form video, podcasts, etc.). Suggest an intro. Translate complex investigative processes into clear, highly accessible stories for a general audience in the style appropriate for the platform.
* Submit all story components for editorial approval.
* Supervise editing as required. For television news, isolate and assemble audio/video clips. Perform rough editing for radio and, if necessary, oversee the mixing process.
* Prepare live stand-ups;
Propose questions and clips, and suggest their order.
* Deliver on air your reports, interviews and analysis segments dealing with fact-checking and news verification. As needed, collaborate with journalists in other regional bureaus and partner closely with the national

* team on joint investigations.
* Inform newsroom management of any event that warrants a news flash or special coverage.
* Ensure the availability of the resources required to produce your reports (studio, booths, technician, etc.).
