The Orchestre Symphonique de Québec, under the direction of Music Director Clemens Schuldt, is announcing an international audition for the Principal Viola position. This is a permanent position with a tenure track, and if a current member of the orchestra wins the audition, the committee may offer the resulting vacancy to one of the finalists. The audition will take place on October 30th, 2026, at the Grand Théâtre de Québec.

Applicants should be prepared to travel to Québec at their own expense for the live audition. The starting date for the position is January 2027 or earlier, and candidates should be ready to accept the position if offered.
The salary for the Principal Viola position is CAD 57,130, which includes a 25% premium and 4% paid vacations. Additional benefits include an 8% contribution to the Musicians' Pension Fund of Canada, collective insurance coverage, and eligibility for Employment Insurance benefits. The audition process will be conducted anonymously behind a screen, and the committee reserves the right to dismiss any candidate who does not meet the requirements.
