Sr. System Technologist

Job Description

The Sr. System Technologist will join the System Integration team in the T1 Territory across Canada. This role specializes in optimizing and supporting complex mission‑critical communication systems for government and public safety customers.

• Optimize, support, program, configure, test and document advanced communication systems, including legacy analog, P25 digital, data infrastructure, RF and broadband architecture.
• Provide technical support and advanced troubleshooting of software‑driven electronics, provisioning of communication system infrastructure, and performance optimization of RF and broadband networks.
• Deliver weekly reports on activities, accomplishments and system status.
• Install and maintain wired communication systems (LAN, WAN), cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, bridges and server hardware/OS infrastructure.
• Develop solutions to technical problems encountered during system implementation, upgrades and support.
• Collaborate with engineering, project management, sales and customer service teams to design, implement, optimize and cut‑over advanced communication systems.
• Manage self‑directed tasks and resolve customer problems quickly in stressful situations.

• Associate degree (or equivalent) and≥3years experience in backhaul networks, fiber, MPLS, microwave, engineering, LMR, RF systems, P25, wired/wireless communication systems or related IT/telecommunications fields.
• Canadian citizen with capability to obtain required security clearance.
• Valid driver’s license with no traffic violations.
• English and French literacy preferred; ability to obtain background clearance required by government customers.
• Travel: >50%.
• Strong self‑management and people skills to work with customers, subcontractors, sales, engineering, project management and customer service teams.
• Experience with radio communication systems, propagation, RF, wireless broadband/LTE and familiarity with vendors such as Juniper, HP, Aviat, Cisco or Nokia‑Alcatel.
• Professional experience with IP network design, Ethernet, TCP/IP, L2/L3, MPLS, Linux, Windows Server, VMware, and Google Suite, MS Word, Excel, Outlook.

• Advanced troubleshooting of software‑driven electronics and RF/broadband architecture.
• Expertise with Juniper, HP, Aviat, Cisco, Nokia‑Alcatel.
• Experience with Linux, Windows Server, VMware, Google Suite and Microsoft Office tools.
