As an Environmental Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting the project team to ensure full compliance with environmental laws, contractual requirements, as well as project‑specific conditions and commitments. Through your communication, collaboration, and adaptability skills, you will help foster a positive and proactive culture focused on environmental awareness and regulatory compliance, both within your team and across the broader Pomerleau family.
Whatyou will do
- Report to the Regional Environmental Team Lead.
- Participate in the development of project‑specific environmental management plans and permit applications, and contribute to work planning by ensuring environmental requirements are integrated into execution documents.
- Deliver awareness training sessions and environmental emergency response drills to project staff, including subcontractors.
- Take part in field kick‑off meetings and work coordination meetings.
- Support construction teams to ensure environmental compliance by sharing best practices and recommending improvement opportunities.
- Assist site teams in implementing soil and water sampling plans in accordance with provincial and federal guidelines and contractual requirements, to collect environmental quality data that can serve as performance indicators.
- Assist site teams in responding to environmental emergencies that cause or could cause impacts on receiving environments and in communications with government authorities.
- Incorporate the environmental management system into your duties, monitor performance indicators, and contribute to achieving corporate environmental objectives.
- Completed a post‑secondary program in environmental sciences, forestry, engineering, biology, geology, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in the environmental field, ideally in construction or a related industry.
- Solid knowledge of provincial and federal environmental laws and regulations.
- Good understanding of ISO 14001 standards and Environmental Management Systems.
- Knowledge and experience in environmental management on construction sites, mainly civil works, including contaminated soil management and water management.
- Ability to work independently while being an effective team player.
- Certification from the joint health and safety association for the construction sector (ASP Construction).
- A valid driver’s license.
- Availability and ability to travel for site visits in Eastern Canada, including Quebec, Ontario, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia.
