Job DescriptionSkymap is seeking a Tech Artist to work on console SKUs for an Unreal game currently in development. The Tech Artist will be working directly with development team to adapt the assets, shader, lighting etc. to work well on target platforms.
We are looking for someone autonomous that has a strong understanding of console budgets and can evaluate where optimizations are necessary and be proactive in driving development.
The Tech Artists must be able to balance maintaining the visual quality of the game while ensuring the game can hit performance benchmarks on target platforms.
Responsibilities- Ensure stable console performance by optimizing game assets, lighting and rendering.
- Make and/or modify shaders to hit benchmarks
- Profile various aspects of the game to identify problem areas
- Take a strategic approach to tasks to efficiently achieve goals within tight deadlines
- Achieve highest level of visual fidelity possible within the technical constraints
- Collaborate with internal and external teams using positive and active communication
- Provide regular updates on tasks and report any issues preventing or slowing down development
- 3+ years as Tech Artist in the games industry working with Unreal
- Shipped at least one large game title preferably across PC/Console
- Experience working on a porting project or on a multi-SKU project
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- A passion for video games
