Tasks

  • 5.1 Provide day-to-day operational support for CJWC distributed network capabilities (CFXNet, CFBLNet, US JTEN and related enclave networks) including incident triage, ticket management, and initial troubleshooting.
  • 5.2 Monitor network health and performance using CJWC toolsets; acknowledge, investigate, and document alarms; perform routine checks and elevate anomalies.
  • 5.3 Implement approved access control changes (e.g., ACL updates, VLAN membership, port security, device account updates) in accordance with change procedures.
  • 5.4 Support the NOC, JBL, and ITB during exercises, experimentation, training, and demonstrations by staging gear, validating connectivity, and executing checklists.
  • 5.5 Perform routine installation, racking/stacking, labeling, and basic configuration of network infrastructure (e.g., switches, routers) following approved build guides.
  • 5.6 Maintain and update network documentation: diagrams, device inventories, IPAM records, port maps, and site books.
  • 5.7 Assist with site accreditation evidence collection and maintaining compliance artifacts as directed by senior staff.
  • 5.8 Assist with IP address assignments and maintain IP mapping/IPAM accuracy.
  • 5.9 Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (e.g., backups of device configurations, OS/firmware checks, interface utilization reviews) and recommend minor improvements.
  • 5.10 Conduct basic vulnerability checks and apply standard hardening baselines or patches following approved procedures; elevate findings requiring design changes.
  • 5.11 Operate and support core network services (e.g., DHCP reservations, DNS entries, NTP validation, AAA/TACACS account checks) under guidance; do not modify policies without approval.
  • 5.12 Troubleshoot connectivity and hardware issues across JCIS areas of responsibility.
  • 5.13 Communicate technical status and changes to stakeholders; provide clear hand-offs between shifts and teams.
  • 5.14 Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), quick-reference guides, and step-by-step runbooks for common tasks.
  • 5.15 Prepare and deliver a monthly activity report summarizing incidents handled, changes executed, and documentation updates.
  • Qualifications – MC-1

    The proposed resource must meet one of the following:

    • A minimum of five (5) years of experience within the last ten (10) years configuring, installing, and troubleshooting routers, switches, and firewalls in a Wide Area Network (WAN) or Local Area Network (LAN) environment;
    • A minimum of three (3) years of experience within the last ten (10) years configuring, installing, and troubleshooting routers, switches, and firewalls in a WAN or LAN environment, AND a university degree in computer science or network engineering, a college diploma in a related field, or a valid Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification.

    The experience must include tasks involving VLAN management, access control lists (ACLs), IP subnetting, OSPF and BGP routing protocols, and GRE tunnels.

    Qualifications – MC-2

    The proposed resource must demonstrate the ability to clearly and accurately articulate detailed network configuration information across a broad range of networking technologies, including:

    • OSPF and BGP routing protocols
    • Subnetting and IP addressing
    • Network protocols and well-known ports
    • VLANs
    • Tunneling and overlay technologies (e.g., GRE, DMVPN)
    • Access Control Lists (ACLs)
    • Spanning Tree Protocol (STP)

    To be deemed responsive, the Bidder must provide:

    • At least one (1) project description that clearly demonstrates the resource’s experience configuring, analyzing, or troubleshooting each of the technologies listed above.
    • A company name and reference for the work completed.
    • A description of the resource’s role and responsibilities on the referenced project(s), detailing how they applied these networking technologies in an operational, enterprise, or defence environment.
    • Dates and duration for each project provided, along with the client or organization where the work was performed.
    • If possible, specific examples showing the resource’s ability to explain or document complex network configurations (e.g., network design documents, configuration guides, routing analyses, or equivalent).
