Sun Life Québec invites experienced professionals to join our dynamic team as a Group Underwriting Senior Consultant. You will work in a hybrid setting, collaborating closely with our sales partners to deliver value‑based risk solutions to our clients.
Job DescriptionLocation: Hybrid (office and virtual)
As a seasoned Underwriter, you will be responsible for the risk selection and pricing of Group Life, Disability, Health, Dental, and Critical Illness benefits. Your work will include renewing existing business, responding to plan change requests, and evaluating new business opportunities.
Responsibilities- Complete renewals, quotations, and client requests within service standards.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of products, underwriting guidelines, systems, pricing methodologies, and the marketplace.
- Assess risk and determine pricing and contractual terms for each Plan Sponsor.
- Develop expertise in the administrative, contractual, and legislative Group Benefits environment.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with salespeople, partnering to sell renewals and new quotations.
- Ensure a clear understanding of client needs and risk profiles, providing insight and creative solutions to address risk and cost.
- Minimum 10 years of Group Underwriting experience.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
- A thoughtful decision‑making approach with strong judgment in unique situations.
- A solutions mindset balancing profit against growth.
- Curiosity about clients and a drive to create best outcomes for them and us.
- Negotiation skills and the ability to make timely, decisive decisions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel).
- Highly organized with excellent time‑management skills.

- Strong interpersonal skills and cross‑functional collaboration, including coaching.
- Clear communication of decisions, written and verbal.
- Required bilingualism (French and English, oral and written).

Base pay: 80,000 – 128,000 CAD. Eligible employees participate in incentive plans based on performance.
