Occupational Health & Safety​/Industrial Hygiene Specialist

Our LaPrade location is looking for an  OSH (Occupational Health and Safety)/IH (Industrial Hygiene) Specialist  to help advance our vision of safety excellence.

What you will be doing!

Analyzing workplace conditions, safety trends, and operational activities to proactively identify hazards, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

Evaluating incidents, events, and safety data to determine root causes, identify contributing factors, and develop effective corrective actions.

Providing expert advice and practical recommendations to supervisors, project teams, and stakeholders on occupational safety and industrial hygiene matters.

Developing, implementing, and monitoring OSH programs, project-specific safety plans, and risk registers to ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.

Conducting formal and informal inspections, audits, and field observations to verify adherence to safety programs, procedures, and legislative standards.

Reviewing contractor safety programs, work plans, and risk assessments, providing constructive feedback to support safe project execution.

Coaching and mentoring employees, supervisors, and contractors on safe work practices, hazard recognition, and compliance with health and safety requirements.

Supporting and oversee Industrial Hygiene programs through exposure monitoring, audits, surveillance activities, instrument calibration, hearing conservation initiatives, and medical baseline coordination.

Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

Education

College diploma or university degree within an OSH, IH or a combined field from an accredited Canadian or international program, or an extensive set of OSH and IH training and certification across various topics.

Possess, or must have the ability to possess, minimum professional credentials as a CRST (Canadian Registered Safety Technician) and NCSO (National Construction Safety Officer).

CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) or equivalent recognized designations, such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or CMIOSH (Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health), are preferred.

Experience

4-6 years of OSH and IH experience in an equivalent role within complex nuclear, research & technology, heavy construction project, heavy manufacturing, industrial processing, mining, oil & gas, or other civil or environmental remediation experience.

Experience with in a radiation safety and/or protection setting is an asset but not required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to understand and interpret safety statistics and performance metrics.

Excellent interpersonal communication skills – written and oral - and proven ability to maintain successful working relations at all levels within the organization and with external stakeholders.

Ability to solve problems through soft and hard analytical skills.

Ability to provide prompt, clear and concise guidance as required.

Security Clearance Eligibility Required

Level 2 Secret requires  a minimum of 7 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and/or the United Kingdom . CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
